SolarPrint's technology has the potential to revolutionise the auto industry and the cars that we drive, by converting everyday light into a form of power.

SolarPrint’s solar cells can be printed on a variety of different materials and can be tailored to suit many applications including the roof surfaces of automotive vehicles. The solar panels that can be incorporated create a means of generating alternative sources of energy for vehicles by converting light into power.

SolarPrint is part of an international collaboration, including Centro Richerche Fiat (CRF), working on a project, titled “Smartop” initiative funded by the European Commission. The project is focused on the development of a ‘smart' sunroof that can integrate DSSC technology, energy storage systems such as lithium batteries, and other devices that will be used to power on-board devices in cars. This will maximise energy efficiencies and ensure driver comfort and fuel economy, both for fully electrical and internal combustion engine vehicles.
